Gabriela Larios first limited edition cushion cover's collection
Why did you develop this collection?
Cushions are for me like a blank canvas where you can express your vision and creativity in endless ways. This is a personal project that combines my passion for patterns, illustration and textiles.
Which fabric did you use and what size are they?
I used cotton linen fabric and their size is 40 x 40 cm and 20 x 40 cm. They also have the advantage of being double sided with same print on both sides.

Where were they made?
In Britain made to the highest standards by a family run business it was a joy to work with them.
Have you thought about the environment, fair trade and all those things when you developed them?
Yes of course! I have tried my best, the company who printed them used eco friendly inks on natural fabrics and apart from my husband and the company above, there was no one else involved in the project - I have tried to be fair at pricing them, that is for sure.
What was your inspiration?
My love for bold graphics and illustration, nature, colours that cheer you up. When you come from a tropical country like El Salvador and you live in a city like London where you scarcely see the sun especially during winter time you feel the urgent need to escape to brighter, warmer and more colourful places and sometimes the only way to do it is with a little bit of creativity and imagination. Also the inspiration that an artist receives by living in London is inexhaustible.

Which one is your favourite one?
Hard for me to say my favourite from the rectangular ones is Aquapeces and from the square ones I like Pez Globo (Globe Fish) (although I had already designed another Pez Globo before this one is a new version), I also like Aquaflora and the stripey one called Lili.

¿Cuál fue el motivo por el que desarrollaste esta colección?
Los cojines son para mi como un lienzo en blanco en donde tú puedes expresar tu visión personal y tu creatividad en infinitas formas. Este es un proyecto personal que combina mi pasión por los estampados, la ilustración y los textiles.
¿Qué tela utilizaste para elaborarlos y de qué tamaño son?
Utilicé una combinación de lino y algodón y vienen en tamaños de 40 x 40 cm y 20 x 40 cm. También poseen el mismo print al derecho y al revés por lo que tienen la ventaja de poder ser utilizados a ambos lados.

¿A dónde son hechos?
En Inglaterra hechos con un alto estándar de calidad por una empresa familar. Ha sido un gran placer trabajar con ellos.
¿Cuando los desarrollaste pensaste en el medio ambiente, comercio justo y todas esas cosas?
Si por supuesto he hecho todo lo que ha estado a mi alcance, fueron impresos usando tintas amigables con el medio ambiente sobre telas naturales y aparte de mi esposo, la empresa que imprimió y la mencionada arriba, no hubo nadie más envuelto en el proyecto. He tratado de ser justa al ponerles el precio, eso lo puedo asegurar.
¿Cuál fue tu inspiración?
Mi pasión por los gráficos intensos y la ilustración, la naturaleza, colores alegres. Cuando vienes de un país tropical como El Salvador y vives en una ciudad como Londres, donde escasamente ves el sol especialmente durante el invierno uno siente la urgencia por escapar a lugares más calientes y coloridos y a veces la única forma de hacerlo es con un poco de creatividad e imaginación. Así mismo la inspiración que un artista recibe al vivir en Londres es inagotable.

¿Cuál es tu favorito?
Es difícil para mi decir mi favorito de los rectangulares mi preferido es Aquapeces y de los cuadrados me gusta Pez Globo (aunque ya había diseñado un Pez Globo antes, ésta es la nueva versión del anterior). También me gusta Aquaflora y el de rayas llamado Lili.
