Playtime Paris this weekend!

Cuentos from my Childhood award finalist for the Iberoamerican Biennial of Design BID12

Cuentos from my Childhood Wallpaper design for the British Wallpaper Company Wallpapered has been selected for exhibition and is also an award finalist for the Iberoamerican Biennial of Design BID12 to be held in Madrid from the 26th of November to the 28th of February 2013. Very happy to hear the good news that my 'chuchos' (dogs) 'chumpes' (peacocks) and casitas (little houses) have made their way not only into the selection of works to be published and exhibited but also as an award finalist.

El diseno de papel tapiz Cuentos de mi Infancia para la empresa Britanica Wallpapered ha sido seleccionado para ser exhibido y tambien es finalista a premio para la Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseno BID12 a ser llevada a cabo en Madrid desde el 26 de Noviembre hasta el 28 de Febrero de 2013. Muy contenta sobre las buenas noticias que mis ´chuchos´ (perros), ´chumpes´(pavos) y casitas se han abierto camino no solo en la seleccion de trabajos a ser publicados y exhibidos  sino tambien como finalistas a premio.

Sharing with you one of the activity pages I designed today for Melrose House, the nursery school where Elena (my daughter) has been going to for more than two years. Tomorrow is her last day ever as she starts 'the school for bigger children' in September and this is my gift to the school.

Elena's Special Dress

Our holidays with my family in El Salvador are almost over. We celebrated Elena's 4th Birthday with a 'piñata' held at La Laguna Botanical Garden, this place used to be the lake of an extinct volcano - the vegetation there is exuberant just as the peacocks from the Chumpes fabric that Elena's dress was made with. Specially designed for the occasion, this was one of the personal projects I managed to develop with my fabric collections during our visit.

Turtles & Flowers

I have some exciting news to share! From now on I will be working with London based company Wallpapered. These are the first three designs that are on sale at http://www.wallpapered.com/mural/gabriela-larios
My daughter Elena has already picked the one she likes the most, the one which I call "Tortuguero"a place where you find looots of turtles!  The first wallpaper called Cuentos (Tales) may be familiar to you as it is a simplification of the Cuentos from my Childhood design, inspired by childhood experiences in El Salvador (see previous posts). Turtles & Flowers is also inspired by childhood memories in my grandmother's garden who loved turtles too!

Cuentos from my Childhood Part 2

I am very excited to finally share this artwork. Above you can see a picture of the book called "Cuentos de Cipotes" where the inspiration for this Folk Tale's project comes from (as mentioned on a previous post). I created this illustrative pattern to decorate Elena's bedroom and familiarize her with elements of the salvadoran culture, our country of origin. I am still thinking about the possible uses and applications it could have, for example bedding?
I have created more Folk Art designs which I will be posting very soon!

Elena's birthday invitation

This is the invitation I designed for my daughter's third birthday party. As my husband said, normally the cake is homemade, but in this case the invitations are homemade too!
